I’ve always admired
The vast amount of space
With which mountains reign.
The vast amount of space
With which mountains reign.
I’ve always grown teary
Watching the stars pulse
In the layers of the milkyway.
Watching the stars pulse
In the layers of the milkyway.
I’ve always been amused
At the idea of an asteroid
Orchestrating the dance of our largest bodies of water.
Oceans bowing and retreating to a power they cannot acknowledge.

Are we not but hiccups of the cosmos?
A blip on the radar of the universe?
A blip on the radar of the universe?
And yet here we reside, if only for a moment,
basking in the glow of daylight,
under the wisest tree.
basking in the glow of daylight,
under the wisest tree.
Only we hold the unique capacity,
to know our existence,
to recognize both,
our limits and our magnitude;
A self awareness
afforded only to the hiccups of the universe.

to recognize both,
our limits and our magnitude;
A self awareness
afforded only to the hiccups of the universe.
For not even the sun understands its own light.
